The Supreme Court's recent 6-3 decision to strike down President Biden's loan forgiveness program is very disappointing.
The ultra conservative Supreme Court decision blocked millions of student loan borrowers from receiving $20,000 in student loan forgiveness on Friday, June 30, 2023.
Today, the Supreme Court has become politicized and weaponized the rule of law to disenfranchise 20 million student loan borrowers. This outrageous 6-3 Supreme Court decision is an abject failure of 40 million student loan borrowers.
According to Persis Yu, Deputy Director of Student Borrower Protection Center, "Today's decision is an absolute betrayal of 40 million student loan borrowers counting on an impartial court to decide their financial future based upon the established rule of law."
These aspiring student loan borrowers need President Joe Biden's student debt relief program to alleviate their post college debts. The six ultra conservative Supreme Court Justices strongly believes that President Joe Biden doesn't have the authority to instruct his compassionate Education Secretary Miguel Cardona to abolish $430 billion in student loan debts that would invariably cancel post college student debts of 20 million borrowers.
However, the Biden Administration is strategically planning an alternative path to student loan debt relief program that would become beneficial to 20 million student loan borrowers before student loans are due. This student loan debt relief program must avoid at all cost any political and legal obstruction of the ultra conservative Supreme Court.
